CLIL: CONTENT AND LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING

CLIL: Content and Language Integrated Learning. 'CLIL is an approach in which a foreign language is used as a tool in the learning of a non-language subject in which both. language and the subject have a joint role.' CLIL helps with: Improving overall and specific language competence. Preparing for future studies and/or working life. Developing multilingual interests and attitudes.

History teachers in CLIL programmes have to know the academic language that learner needs in order to communicate their knowledge in English. Learners also need to be able to communicate their historical arguments in English.
